2025 Wyoming Friends Meeting Retreat
This August, Wyoming Friends are hosting a Retreat near Ten Sleep, Wyoming. The dates are Thursday August 7th (mid-day) until Sunday Aug. 10th also mid-day. It will be held at a great church camp facility in the canyon by the highway in the beautiful Big Horn mountains. We are being assisted by Keith Runyan from QEW, Quaker Earthcare Witness. Here is a blurb he wrote about it. "Restoring Relationship - Healing Relationship between Earth and her Peoples Join Wyoming Friends Meeting as we settle in with Quaker Earthcare Witness director, Keith Runyan, his partner, Nora Lisette, and son, Juniper, for a time of reflection and renewal as we explore how healing broken relationship - between one-another and with Earth - is at the heart of a movement towards an Earth Restored. And here is his Bio: Keith Runyan, General Secretary of Quaker Earthcare Witness, is an activist, speaker, and new father. With a background in science education, Keith began his Quaker activist career with a 12 day hunger strike to awaken climate action in the Friends Community and beyond. In 2024, he and his family began traveling in the ministry through QEW on the Road, inspiring prophetic action on the planetary crisis. He is now spear-leading the Quaker Earth Campaign, aiming to unite global Quaker Earthcare action. Nora works as a postpartum doula and in climate psychology - in addition to supporting their young family. Keith and Nora welcomed their son Juniper in March of 2024. Registration is being sent in a few days. We hope you want to attend. If you have friends who might be interested in Quakerism feel free to talk to them about coming, too. :) The cost is to pay as led. More info on that with registration info. -- Christine Parr Clerk of Retreat Committee

Friends,
Registration for NPYM's Annual Session closes on June 22nd. We wish we could be flexible, but our host, the University of Montana, needs our information sooner rather than later. Please forward this email as widely as possible, as we are aware our email lists are not as up-to-date as we'd like. The world situation is changing by the day, practically by the hour. In such times, it is good to be among Friends -- learning from each other, supporting each other, and helping each other and the world. We are already discovering opportunities to bear witness: a trans rights demonstration organized by local Missoulans will take place during our time in their city, and we hope NPYM Friends will be able to join them. We may also have occasion to bear even greater witness for peace, and the hometown of Jeannette Rankin seems an excellent place to do it. But it will not all be work. This year the planning committee has placed a particular emphasis on making more time for connection, fellowship, spiritual grounding, and joy. There will be extra times for worship and for community, including opportunities for intergenerational gathering. Friends, come to Missoula: restore your spirit and help restore the world. (If you have not yet registered, please register here.) In the Spirit, Paul _______________ Paul Christiansen Clerk of NPYM he/him/his, on Duwamish land |
